The Farm's Beginnings
We didn't set out to build a farm overnight.
When we met in 2007, we started talking about having a place of our own. A place where we could grow our own food, raise animals, and become a little more self-sufficient.
In 2011, we started making that idea a reality.
It began with a few chickens and a garden. Nothing fancy. Just a couple of things we knew we wanted to try.
Over the years, those few chickens and that garden turned into something much bigger. We've raised animals, planted gardens, learned how to preserve food, harvested honey, and tried more projects than we probably ever expected to. We've learned most of it by doing it—sometimes getting it right, sometimes learning the hard way, and always figuring out what to try next.
And somewhere along the way, we realized just how much we love it.
There's something incredibly satisfying about sitting down to a meal that came from something you grew yourself. Or watching an animal you raised have babies of its own. Or planting something from a tiny seed and eventually walking out to the garden to harvest it. Even being able to have enough to share with a neighbor feels pretty special.

That's really what Sticks & Stones Farm is about.

Our last name is Stone, so the name came pretty naturally. But the farm itself has become much more than a name. It's something we've spent years building, learning, and dreaming about.

Today, we're working toward a bigger goal: a self-sustaining farm that supports our family while providing good, homegrown food and handmade goods to the people around us.

We're not there yet.
​
There is always another project, another skill to learn, and another idea we're convinced we should try. But when we look at where we started, we're pretty proud of how far we've come.

And we're still building.
